# An RFQ desk workflow

> Use settlement analytics alongside your own quoting and execution systems.

A market-making desk receives a request for a listed market or a newly combined ticket. It needs to understand what accepting the trade would do to its inventory before choosing a premium.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Receive the RFQ">
    Your venue or broker supplies the exact market or legs, sides, size and terms. RFQ delivery stays in the execution system.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Resolve and interpret">
    [Resolve native IDs](/api-reference/resolve-markets), read the settlement summaries and, for a new ticket, [compose an analytical Combo](/api-reference/compose-market) under a supported venue/product convention.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Inspect the settlement logic">
    [Analyze selected outcomes](/api-reference/analyze-relationships) for implications, overlaps, impossible combinations and redundant legs. Read witness references and coverage before relying on a conclusion.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Compare possible fills">
    Supply current inventory and separate desk-buy/desk-sell candidate alternatives to [evaluation](/api-reference/run-evaluation). Review settlement obligations, contributions, extrema and scenario witnesses. Candidates are hypothetical and do not mutate the book.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Price, quote and execute">
    Your own model and risk limits determine premiums and sizes. Your venue or broker handles the quote lifecycle, acceptance and execution. Recheck current inventory and terms before confirmation in your desk systems.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Keep the responsibilities explicit

| Rook | Your desk and execution systems |
| - | - |
| Settlement identity and interpretation | RFQ transport and negotiation |
| Selected-set relationships and payout scenarios | Forecasts, premium and risk limits |
| Baseline/after/delta structural analysis | Outstanding quote reservations and inventory management |
| Supported market observations | Maker confirmation, venue orders and fills |

An unlisted Combo can be evaluated structurally without a market quote. You do not need to submit your proprietary RFQ premium to obtain terminal payouts. [Future customer fair values](/guides/fair-values) are a separate extension.
